Highway crews use special week to remind drivers to be careful
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Highway crews with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and private firms have the same message for drivers — be careful and pay attention in work zones.
The National Work Zone Awareness Week was last April. But because of all the attention being focused at the time on the rise i COVID-19 across the state, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet decided to postpone the Work Zone Awareness Week to September 13-19.
“We are asking for your help to make our roadways safer. As the number of orange barrels and crews on the road increase, so does the likelihood of a work zone crash,” the department advised.
