High Lottery Sales Help Kentucky Students

Kentucky lottery sales are up this year, and that’s good news for the state’s students, according to Kentucky lottery officials.

During the fiscal year 2012 ticket sales have reached $823 million, according to officials. that breaks the 2009 record of $810 million.

A portion of the state’s lottery earnings goes into scholarships and grant programs for students each year. Last year’s share was $216 million.

The lottery credits the improving economy and the changes made to the scratch-off games for the increase in sales.
