Hickman police officer arrested

MAYFIELD, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Hickman police officer found himself on the other side of the law Thursday when he was arrested on a warrant, according to State Police.

Investigators say the warrant against James Blakney was issued in McCracken County on August 10, 2017, for Failure to Pay or Appear.

The original charges were filed by Paducah Police in February of this year and included Third Degree Forgery and Impersonating a Peace Officer, according to KSP.

At the time of the original charges, Blakney was not employed as a police officer, according to investigators.

When Blakney was arrested by State Police on Thursday, he was employed as a Hickman city police officer.  He was arrested in Mayfield and taken to the McCracken County Jail, according to State Police.

The investigation continues, according to KSP.
