(WTVQ) – Funeral arrangements have been made for Jermaine Barber, the man fatally wounded during a shooting in the parking lot at Fayette Mall.

According to Keith P. Clark and Sons Funeral Home in Winchester, visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13 and 9 a.m. to Noon Saturday with the funeral at noon for immediate family only.

Visitation and services will be at Keith P. Clark and sons at 211 W. Broadway St., in Winchester.

UPDATE POSTED 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8

(WTVQ) – Jermaine Jaquael Barber was the son of April Barber and Jackie Johnson.

He was born in Chicago on Monday, November 25, 1996.
In addition to his parents, Jermaine is survived by his siblings, Jemel Barber, Star Barber, Brianna Harris and Gregory Brown.
Keith P. Clark and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, which are incomplete.

UPDATE POSTED 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6 (WTVQ) — Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn identified the victim of the shooting as 23-year-old Jermaine Barber.

Ginn said Barber was pronounced dead at UK Medical Center at 9:51 p.m., just under two hours after he was found shot in the parking lot at Fayette Mall at about 8 p.m.

An autopsy will be conducted. Ginn listed the cause of death as a gunshot wound but did not say whether Barber suffered one or more wounds.

UPDATE POSTED 11 A.M. Friday, Nov. 6 (WTVQ)- The Fayette County Coroner has confirmed the 23-year-old victim in Thursday night’s shooting outside Fayette Mall in Lexington has died.

Officials say he was shot around 8 P.M. in the parking lot outside the mall. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

His name has not been released.

Police have arrested 19-year-old Jessin Stateman in connection with the shooting. He is facing murder charges.

According to police, the investigation found Stateman and the victim were acquaintances who had agreed to meet outside the mall. During the meeting, a “disorder ensued” and Stateman shot the victim, police said in a statement.

Stateman was located in a nearby parking lot and taken into custody without incident.

ORIGINAL STORY:

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Lexington Police say a man in his 20’s found shot outside Fayette Mall Thursday night has life-threatening injuries.

Officers say the man was found around closing time, 8:00 p.m, near the mall’s main entrance on the Nicholasville Road side near P.F. Chang’s.

The man was rushed to UK Hospital. His name has not been released.

Soon after the shooting, another man was found nearby at Walmart. Police say investigators are questioning him in connection to the shooting, but officers are not calling him a suspect.

Police say gunfire also hit a car in the mall parking lot. No other people were hit.

Investigators are trying to figure out what led up to the shooting.

The mall has been the site of violence in recent years with a 17-year-old killed during a shooting there in August and a young mother murdered outside the year prior.
