Heaven Hill appoints co-master distiller

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — The Kentucky spirits maker that produces Evan Williams bourbon has selected industry veteran Denny Potter as its co-master distiller.

Heaven Hill Distilleries Inc. says Potter will work alongside master distiller Craig Beam in overseeing the company’s portfolio of American whiskeys.

Potter served as distillery plant manager at Heaven Hill’s Bernheim facility, overseeing production of the world’s second-largest inventory of aging bourbon.

Heaven Hill says Potter has spent 13 years in distillery operations. He previously served as operations manager at Beam Global’s facility in Frankfort.

His experience also includes a stint as director of distillery and environmental operations at the Maker’s Mark Distillery at Loretto.

Heaven Hill President Max L. Shapira says Potter is grounded in the company’s traditions but also has a keen eye for innovation and emerging trends.
