Heating up again on Tuesday ahead of storm chances

Meteorologist Dillon Gaudet has the latest in your full ABC 36 Storm Team forecast

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Tuesday! It feels great out there to begin your day. Enjoy it, because temperatures will be heating up again this afternoon. High temperatures today will be reaching the low 90s for most locations. There will be the chance of storms moving in late day into the overnight hours as well. Most of these storms will stay to our north but we can’t rule out a few afternoon storms, but most locations will be dry and hot during the day. Overnight gusty showers and storms will be possible as well, particularly north of I-64. There is a low-end severe risk for areas north and west of Lexington through the overnight. Isolated damaging wind gusts will be the primary threat.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be bringing beneficial rain and storms during the day on Wednesday. It won’t be a complete wash out but scattered off and on rain and storms will be possible throughout the day. Locally heavy downpours will be possible, and there’s also a Level 1 Severe Risk out for all of Kentucky. Isolated damaging wind gusts and large hail will be possible with the storms. This won’t be a widespread concern, but will be something we will be watching throughout the day.

The storm chances on Wednesday will be ahead of another passing cold front. This passing front will usher in another shot of pleasant conditions for Thursday. Afternoon highs on your Thursday will be only reaching the low-to-mid 80s. However, this will be short-lived just like it was on Monday. Temperatures will be climbing into the low 90s by Friday afternoon. This heat will continue into the day on Saturday.

This heat will fuel another round of storms over the weekend. The timing is still a bit up in the air, but expect the round of storms to move-in sometime between Saturday and Sunday. This could be a severe threat as well, but again that may be depending on the timing. Stay with us for more updates on that severe threat.

Behind that round of storms will be yet another brief shot of comfortable air early next week. Your first day on July on Monday will be really nice with temperatures in the mid-80s, but we will be heating up once again heading into the middle of next week.

Stay with the ABC 36 Storm Team for more updates.
