Hearing on EMW clinic injunction underway

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) – A ruling on a temporary injunction on a Lexington clinic, filed by Governor Matt Bevin’s administration, is underway.

The EMW clinic put off performing abortions until a judge rules on a request from Bevin’s administration to close the clinic.  Fayette Circuit Judge Ernesto Scorsone was expected to rule on Tuesday on the state’s request for a temporary injunction against the EMW Women’s Clinic, but the hearing was postponed until Wednesday.

The Bevin administration’s Cabinet for Health and Family Services filed a lawsuit last week accusing the clinic of operating without a license. The suit also alleges that the clinic does not have a required transfer agreement with a local ambulance service.
