UPDATE: Fayette Mall closes food court after more employee illness reported

UPDATE: (7/23/18, 2:56 P.M.) – The Fayette Mall announced Monday afternoon it was closing its food court following reports of employee illness.

The mall released the following statement:

[su_quote cite=”Fayette Mall”]We are working closely with the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department to address and resolve this issue. Out of an abundance of caution, the decision has been made to close the food court so the following actions can be taken:
• Clean and sanitize all areas in the food court; including: tables, chairs, corridors, floors, and public and employee restrooms.
• Clean and sanitize the play area.
• Individual tenants in the food court will follow the same protocol and be required to clean and sanitize their location.

Tenants impacted will remain closed until all areas have been cleaned and sanitized according to the standards dictated by the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department. [/su_quote]

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department is investigating more reports of illness involving the Fayette Mall food court.

Last week Chick-fil-A in the Fayette Mall closed after several employees called in sick.

The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department says it has received reports of other food court employees becoming ill and is investigating the entire food court.

Chick-fil-A closed its restaurant on Friday to undergo a deep-cleaning protocol.

It was scheduled to reopen Monday but has not.

The health department says it has not been contacted by Chick-fil-A for an inspection before it reopens.

The department says the reported illnesses have none of the signs of hepatitis A.
