Health Department: Grocery store closed due to rodent infestation

WHITESBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Letcher County Health Department says it shutdown a Food City store in Whitesburg because of rodents.

According to The Mountain Eagle, K-VA-T Food Store, Inc. released a statement apologizing for the inconvenience. The company says, “food safety and cleanliness are of the utmost importance and we are committed to maintaining these high standards.”

It continues by saying in December of last year, its “Whitesburg store scored 96 out of a possible 100 points on their State Health Inspection for foodservice and 98 on their retail store inspection.”  But the company also says that due to a recent expansion project, concerns have been raised, according to the report.
