Health care workers celebrate as patient leaves ICU
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – They become statistics every day, new cases confirmed with the coronavirus and an increasing number of people who have recovered or are recovering.
We hear about the deaths but sometimes those making progress toward recovery get lost in between.
Norton Women and Children’s Hospital didn’t let that happen to one of its patients Thursday.
When Berry Berlin, a 71-year-old patient from Louisville, was taken off a ventilator Thursday and moved to the progressive care unit. When he made that quick trip, he was greeted by more than 50 care givers from the facility’s staff who lined the hallway to applaud his progress and recovery.
“This is a step in the right direction and the staff was excited to share in this accomplishment,” said Lynne Choate, public relations manager for the hospital.
