Health alert issued for popular brand of ravioli over allergen
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Check your freezer, the USDA is issuing a public health alert on a popular brand of ravioli.
The Food Safety and Inspection Service issued the alert on Fresh Thyme Farmers Market Chicken Ravioli Ovals. The alert says the product was formulated with a different sriracha chili sauce that contains soy – a known allergen – while the sauce normally used does not.
Because soy is not declared on the product label, the health alert was issued out of caution for consumers with allergies.
The USDA said a recall wasn’t requested because they believe the affected products are no longer available to be directly purchased by consumers.
The 16-ounce bags of the Fresh Thyme Farmers Market Chicken Ravioli ovals have a best-by date of Dec. 8, 2021 and bear the establishment number M-1854/P-19980.
These items were shipped to distributors and sold in Kentucky, among other states.
FSIS is concerned some products may be in consumers’ freezers.
