HAZARD, Ky. (WTVQ) – Hazard is getting a grant to bolster its manufacturing training.

The U.S. Department of Commerce announced Wednesday it was awarding a $2.5 million grant to the Kentucky Community and Technical College System of Hazard.

The department says the project is expected to create 261 jobs.

The project is funded under the 2018 Assistance to Coal Communities program and was created to aid communities severely impacted by the declining use of coal.

It involves a partnership of three community and technical colleges to advance manufacturing training programs across 16 counties.
