Harrison county Murder Victim Remembered at Memorial

Tears and music flowed through Mt. Carmel Christian Church Tuesday evening, as family and friends remembered a young Harrison County mother who was murdered three years ago.

Bryia Runiewicz was just 31-years-old when she was murdered by her ex-boyfriend, Bass Webb, in July 2009.

According to her family, Runiewicz was fun, loving and harmelss, which makes it difficult for them to figure out why anyone would kill her.

But, Tuesday Her family vowed not to think about Webb or the way Runiewicz died. They said they wanted to remember the woman she was.

Runiewicz’s 11-year-old daughter, Madyson Williams, said her favorite word is "ladybug" because it was her mother’s nickname.

"Her nickname was momma ladybug and we were her ladybugs," Williams said.

Morgan Williams, Runiewicz’s second daughter, who is also 11, said her mother made her eighth birthday one that she will always remember just by being creative and loving.

"It was my birthday," Morgan Williams said. "I woke up one morning and we didn’t have a cake so my mom stuck a candle inside of a strawberry shortcake roll and gave it to me."

Even though the family ignored the thought of Webb at Tuesday’s memorial, Runiewicz’s mother, Dora Claire, said she feels a small amount of peace knowing he’s going to jail.

Webb pled guilty to Runiewicz’s murder on July 18. He faces another murder charge in the death of another ex-girlfriend, and was already sentenced to 50 years for trying to run over two Bourbon County officers in 2009.
