Harrison County inmate back in custody
CYNTHIANA, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Florence Police Department has located and arresting an escapee from Harrison County.
49 year-old Gary Courtney reportedly became disruptive during a court hearing, was moved to a holding room, and then escaped Monday afternoon while still handcuffed, shackled, and wearing a jail jumpsuit.
Police say he allegedly stole a 2001 Ford Ranger from a maintenance garage in Cynthiana, which was located on Ewing Blvd. Tuesday afternoon.
Officers pulled the Ford Ranger over, which led to Courtney fleeing on foot.
After a brief chase, officers arrested him and a female passenger who also fled on foot.
Courtney was taken to Boone County Detention Center and charged with receiving stolen property, fleeing and evading, and a parole violation warrant, and warrants from Harrison County for escape, theft of a vehicle, theft of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, criminal trespass, and tampering with physical evidence.
The female passenger, 26 year-old Jessica Gault also of Berry, Ky., was arrested, transported to the Boone County Detention Center, and charged with receiving stolen property.
