Grimes applauds Habitat for Humanity & Norton Healthcare on home build for Iraq vet

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville and Norton Healthcare are partnering to build a home for a former translator for U.S. troops in Iraq. Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes visited the build site Friday.

Norton has partnered with Habitat to build their 12th home in Louisville.

The volunteer team includes Chief Warrant Officer 2 Joe Slaughter, a veteran, who joins his friends on the team. Slaughter was the first veteran to start a business under the Secretary of State’s Boots to Business program that began this month. The program encourages entrepreneurship among veteran and active-duty service members through waiving business fees.
