Grants offered for Land Between The Lakes field trips

GOLDEN POND, Ky. (AP) — Teachers who would like to take students on a field trip to Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area can apply for a grant to help with costs.

The deadline to apply is April 30.

The grant is available to public school districts within 100 miles of Land Between The Lakes. Programs support Kentucky’s and Tennessee’s K-12 curriculum guidelines for science, arts and humanities, and social studies.

The grant assists with costs for transportation, facility admission fees, program costs and dorm rental during the 2015-2016 school year. Grant amounts awarded depend on school matching funds, number of students and number of planned programs.

Land Between The Lakes manages more than 170,000 acres in western Kentucky and Tennessee.
