Grant County: Suspect wounded in officer involved shooting

CRITTENDEN, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Grant County sheriff’s deputy shot a man who reportedly opened fire on him Monday night, according to the sheriff.

Investigators say the deputy and another officer responded to a report that a man had a rifle in a trailer park on Indian Hills Drive.  The sheriff says the man pointed the rifle at the law enforcement officers and fired.  The sheriff says the deputy defended himself and returned fire, hitting the suspect, who was airlifted to the hospital.

The deputy has been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure anytime a law enforcement officer is involved in a shooting.  State Police are handling the investigation.
