Governor orders flags to half-staff Friday

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ)-Governor Matt Bevin has ordered all flags flown at state office buildings be lowered to half-staff Friday, September 7, 2018 to honor Chief Warrant Officer 3 Taylor J. Galvin, who was killed in Iraq.

Galvin was a 34-year-old Fort Campbell soldier. According to the Governor’s office, he died supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, which is the name for the military intervention against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.

The Governor’s Office says Galvin died August 20th in Baghdad, Iraq after his helicopter crashed in Sinjar, Ninevah Province.

The Governor encourages anyone who flies a flag to lower it Friday in honor of Chief Warrant Officer Galvin.
