Governor Bevin calls out House of Representatives: not working enough
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Governor Matt Bevin posted a video to his Facebook the morning of March 7, calling out the Kentucky House of Representatives for not being at the House of Representatives Chamber at 11 a.m.
In the video, Governor Bevin reveals the empty Chamber. “They have been in-session just over an hour a day, this entire legislative session. They’re being paid to be here full-time.” Said Bevin, in the video.
According to the Legislative Calendar, the House is due to convene in the House Chambers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 07.
Greg Stumbo released a short response, saying;”Been too busy in meetings working on the budget to look at the video. I think it’s childish.”
The Kentucky Democratic Party also responded to the video later Monday evening.
“Either Gov. Matt Bevin doesn’t know how the process works, or he was trying to distort the truth and mislead people with his video today on social media,” said Rep. Sannie Overly, chair of the Kentucky Democratic Party. “House lawmakers were heading to work in the Capitol Annex, where committee meetings happen every day during session.”
