Gov. to announce vaccine incentives, Fayette County has seen success
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – West Virginia is offering all kinds of big-ticket prizes as incentives. Ohio will announce its second million dollar winner tonight. And Kentucky is expected to announce its own list of incentives Thursday.
But before all that, states have to get the tools in place to make sure the most at-risk people can even get to a vaccine. That means sign ups, transportation and convenience. The Fayette County Health Department has been seeing success by doing just that.
“One of the things being looked at from us, City Hall and the Mayor’s office are breaking down all the barriers,” said Kevin Hall, a spokesperson for the Fayette County Health Department. “Transportation is a huge barrier to people getting to these clinics. It’s one of the reasons we have the neighborhood vaccination clinics with Johnson and Johnson. And with the mayor’s office, working with Wild Health doing door to door to get people signed up. Getting them vaccinated will help tear down those other remaining barriers.”
Gov. Andy Beshear said earlier this week he plans to announce some vaccination incentives Thursday, June 3.
