GoodGiving Guide Challenge kicks off Friday, aims to raise millions for charity
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A fundraiser that’s become something of a local holiday tradition kicks off Friday and hopes to bolster nonprofit groups throughout Central and Eastern Kentucky.
The GoodGiving Guide Challenge is an online donation campaign organized by Blue Grass Community Foundation and Smiley Pete Publishing. According to the Challenge website it’s “designed to engage the entire community and to make charitable giving easy and fun.”
Nonprofits from Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Franklin, Harrison, Jessamine, Madison, Montgomery, Scott, Woodford, Rowan, Morgan and Magoffin Counties can sign up to be part of the challenge that runs from November 13 through December 31.
The campaign is now in it’s fifth year, and it’s grown each of those years. In 2014, 155 Kentucky charities benefited from a combined $1.77 million in donations.
In addition to receiving contributions from donors, nonprofits will also have the opportunity to compete for $5,000 endowment prizes from Blue Grass Community Foundation and other donors, according to the campaign’s website.
