GoodGiving Challenge tops last year’s opening day donations

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The first day of GoodGiving challenge brought in $50,000 more for local nonprofits than last year, according to campaign organizers.

On Tuesday the community raised $458,000 for 131 Central and Appalachia charities.

The week-long online giving campaign runs through December 9.

Since its inception in 2011, the GoodGiving Challenge has raised $10 million for local nonprofits.

Last year, more than 7,500 donations resulted in $1.5 million impacting 110 charities.
