Georgia, Corbin men busted on trafficking charges

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A traffic stop Thursday afternoon south of London in Laurel County lands a Georgia ma and Corbin resident in jail on drug trafficking charges.

According to Laurel County Sheriff John Root, 41-year-old Ernest Wayne Doan Jr., of Engineer Street in Corbin, and 41-year-old Jimmy Dennis, of Stonewall Street in Rome, Ga., are charged with meth, heroin and fentanyl trafficking. Doan also is charged with evidence tampering.

The arrests occurred off South Stewart Road about 10 miles south of London when sheriff’s investigators spotted a suspicious car during a drug investigation and made a traffic stop, the sheriff said.

They allegedly found Doan, who was driving, in possession of suspected methamphetamine, digital scales, and a large amount of cash.

Dennis was in possession of a large amount of suspected methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl, and cash, Root said.

Assisting on the investigation for the Laurel County Sheriff’s office were: Laurel County Sheriff John Root, Maj. Chuck Johnson, Lieut. Chris Edwards, Sgt. Brett Reeves, Detective Bryon Lawson, Deputy Dylan Messer, K-9 Deputy Jake Miller.
