Georgetown hosts fundraiser for staff of restaurant destroyed in fire

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ)- Dozens of people gathered Saturday behind City Hall in Georgetown to raise money for the staff at Red State Taps.

A fire destroyed the popular restaurant early Thursday morning. The owner told ABC 36 then he was worried about his employees being out of a job.

Saturday’s fundraiser featured live music, beer, and a food truck. All of this was a way to get funds together for employees.

Peyton Griffee who attended the fundraiser said, “As a student at Georgetown College, it’s just great to see the community come together. They’ve always been welcoming of us so we’re out here a couple of students from Georgetown just trying to show support for Red State.”

In addition to the fundraiser, there is an online campaign also working to raise money for the restaurant staff.
