Georgetown College accreditation reaffirmed

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) – Georgetown College’s accreditation has been reaffirmed by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

Georgetown College made the announcement Thursday.

The college was sanctioned by the accreditation association 2014 because of concerns over the college’s financial resources and stability.

In 2016, it was put on probation.

The college then announced it was putting a “strategic renewal plan” in place.

In the years that followed, the college says it experienced steady and significant improvement in its situation.

College officials say the current reaffirmation confirms that Georgetown College is in compliance with accreditation standards, including that it has resources, programs, and services sufficient to accomplish and sustain its educational mission.
