Gas prices down for Thanksgiving travel

Gas prices are the lowest they’ve been in seven years for the Thanksgiving holiday, helpful for all the people who will be hitting the road to travel, according to AAA.

AAA says gas is down about 75 cents a gallon compared to this time last year.

Wednesday is typically considered the busiest travel day of the year. 42 million Americans are expected to travel on the roads this year, according to AAA.

AAA expects gas to continue to drop in price through Christmas.

Waze, the world’s largest community-based traffic app, analyzed usage last year and says traffic will be the worst Tuesday from four to ten p.m., Wednesday from three to seven p.m. and Sunday from one to six p.m.

Statewide, traffic deaths are up in Kentucky this year compared to this time last year. Kentucky State Police say through November 19, 2014 there were 585 lives lost and for the same period of time in 2015, 652 people have been killed.

Troopers remind everyone to slow down and be safe.
