Gas Line Explosion Injures 2; Closes Highway

An explosion east of Louisville Wednesday afternoon injured at least two people and closed U.S. 42.

Oldham County dispatch shift supervisor Tom McCane said some type of gas explosion was reported around 5:00 p.m.

He said Louisville Gas & Electric was on the scene and that the area was stabilized.

McCane said two people were taken to hospitals.  He did not know their conditions.

The explosion closed down about a mile and a half to two miles of U.S. 42.

McCane said it was not known when the highway would reopen.

The location was about a mile and a half east of the Jefferson County line in Oldham County.
