Gas leak forces evacuation of park in Lawrenceburg

LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – Some nervous moments for families at an Anderson County park Wednesday morning after a gas leak forced the evacuation of the park.

According to Anderson County Emergency Management, a construction crew working at the corner of Broadway Street and US 127 Bypass struck a 2-inch gas line around 10:10 a.m.

Emergency crews responded and evacuated the city park, which includes a splash park, at American Legion Drive in Lawrenceburg because they say winds were carrying the gas toward the park.

Workers with the gas company responded and shut off the gas line.

Emergency management says there is no longer a threat to the area and the evacuation order is lifted.
