Funeral services announced for UK football pioneer Houston Hogg

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WTVQ) – Funeral services will be held in Owensboro for Houston Hogg, a University of Kentucky football legend.

Hogg, along with Wilbur Hackett, Nate Northington and Greg Page, helped break the color barrier in the South East Conference.

Hogg first played in Hazard, then for Daviess County High School before attending the University of Kentucky in 1967.

While at UK, the running back rushed for 245 yards and two touchdowns.

Hogg along with his four teammates are all commemorated with a statue outside of Kroger Field.

He died at 71 years of age on January 2 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.

Visitation for Hogg will be held at Good Shepherd Church on Friday, January 10 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, January 11 at 10 a.m. until the funeral service starts at noon.
