Funeral Friday for State Trooper killed in accidental fall

SOMERSET, Ky. (WTVQ) – A funeral for Kentucky State Trooper Mason Flynn, who died in an accidental fall, is being held Friday at 11:00 a.m., at the Center for Rural Development.

Burial will follow the funeral at Woodstock Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to ‘Shop with a Trooper.’

Investigators say Trooper Flynn was off duty and helping someone put a tin roof on a hay barn in Pulaski County when he slipped and fell to his death. The coroner says he died from a traumatic brain injury.

Trooper Flynn was a two-year veteran of the State Police. He was assigned to the London Post at the time of his death.

He is the third from his 2015 cadet class to die. Trooper Cameron Ponder and Trooper Eric Chrisman were both killed in the line of duty in 2015.
