Funeral arrangements set for Georgetown Football player

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) – Funeral arrangements have been set for Colson Machlitt and begin Sunday.

Police say 18-year-old Machlitt died after trying to jump stairwells. He fell and hit his head in the Lamba Chi Alpa Fraternity house at Georgetown College.

While police say alcohol is thought to be a factor — both they and the University say there was no party at Lambda Chi and it’s unclear how alcohol was involved or where it came from.

The school says Machlitt wasn’t a member of the fraternity, only visiting a friend.

The fraternity’s national organization is placing the Georgetown chapter on “limited operations” while the football player’s death is being investigated.

Funeral arrangements for Machlitt will be held in Northern Kentucky. Visitation is set for Sunday at the Dixie Heights High School gym from 3-6 p.m. The funeral will be Monday at Saint Joseph Church in Crescent Springs, Kentucky at 10:30 am.

There is also a Go Fund Me page set up to help Machlitt’s family with medical and funeral expenses.
