Fundraiser for family of Bracken County teen found dead after prom
BRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (Ledger Independent/WTVQ) — Friends of a mother and father in Bracken County have started a fundraiser for their son’s funeral expenses, after he was found dead the morning after his senior prom.
According to the Ledger Independent, 18-year-old Travis Spencer was found unresponsive around 3 a.m. Sunday, in a barn in Brooksville.
Police told the Ledger they were unable to revive Travis, who was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police say his body is being sent to Frankfort for an autopsy, but they believe alcohol was a factor.
Travis was a senior at Bracken County High School, where he was set to graduate in a few weeks.
Jeff Aulick, superintendent of Bracken County Schools, told the Ledger that Travis made a difference to many in their school community.
“He was a great kid and a great student. He was a member of our family here. You couldn’t ask for any better. He impacted the lives of several of our students,” Aulick said.
A visitation for Travis is scheduled for 4-8 p.m. Friday at Cooper Funeral Home in Alexandria.
His funeral will be at Cooper Funeral Home on Saturday at 11 a.m.
