LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW): Happy Monday: Temperatures will drop throughout the day as a strong cold front moves through the region. By this afternoon, highs will settle into the upper 20s to lower 30s, with colder air filtering in quickly from the northwest. Skies will clear this afternoon, but the cold air will dominate, bringing wind chills into the teens for some areas. Overnight, temperatures will plummet into the teens, with some spots dipping close to 10°F by Tuesday morning.

Tuesday: Expect the cold to tighten its grip on the area. Another reinforcing shot of arctic air will bring a chance for light snow showers in the afternoon and evening. While snow amounts will generally remain light, some locations could see a coating to up to an inch of fluffy snow, particularly in areas north of the Mountain Parkway. Travel impacts should be minor but keep an eye on untreated surfaces. Highs will struggle to reach the mid-20s, and overnight lows will fall into the single digits for many locations.

Wednesday: This will likely be the coldest morning of the week. Lows will be in the single digits, with wind chills near or below zero. Bundle up if you have to head out early! Despite sunny skies, highs will only reach the low to mid-20s. Another cold night follows, with temperatures dipping into the single digits and teens again.

End of the Week: A brief warm-up arrives Friday and Saturday. Highs will climb into the 40s on Friday and Saturday, but this comes with widespread rain moving in Friday night into Saturday morning. With warmer temperatures, this will be a cold rain, but it will provide some relief from the bitter cold.

Looking Ahead: Colder air returns late Saturday into Sunday, with rain potentially transitioning to snow by Sunday night as another arctic blast moves in. This system could bring additional wintry weather to the region early next week, but details remain uncertain.
