Friends Want Justice for Murdered Clerk

Mike Patel, 51, was killed during an armed robbery at the Marathon gas station on Alexandria Drive in December.

The Commonwealth said they will pursue the death penalty for Travis Bredhold who is accused of killing Patel.

Detectives said Bredhold is linked to a stolen getaway car and a camouflage jacket seen in surveillance video from the armed robber.

Bredhold’s lawyers said they are still going through video and waiting on DNA results.

They verbally objected to the Commonwealth’s notice of intent to seek the death penalty during court on Friday. 

They said they will explain their objection later. 

Friends of Patel said it’s a good step.
 
“It feels real good if they can do it, that’s what we want,” said Subash Ghale who worked with Patel at the gas station.
 
Ghale knows there still has to be a trial.
 
“It will be a good justice for us,” said Ghale.  “Everybody has to move on with their life.”
 
There is a scholarship fund set up for Patel’s children with New York’s 529 Advisor-Guided College Savings Program.
 
The funds can only be used for education and is not tax deductable.

The two boys attend Henry Clay High School.
