Franklin sheriff: Impaired driver slammed into deputy’s cruiser

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Franklin County sheriff says an impaired driver crashed into a deputy’s cruiser Thursday night. Sheriff Pat Melton says it happened while the deputy was standing on the side of Louisville Road, working a crash.

In a Facebook post, Melton says the driver of the vehicle who struck the back of the cruiser was arrested. He says Kevin Jones is facing several charges including, "DUI 2nd Offense, No Insurance, Open Container, failure to yield right of way to a stopped emergency vehicle."

The sheriff says Jones was taken to Frankfort Regional Medical Center and will be transferred later to jail. State police are investigating the collision involving the cruiser.
