Franklin County Sheriff: phone scammer pretends to be deputy

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Franklin County Sheriff is warning people tonight about a new phone scam.

The Sheriff’s Office says someone is calling people, pretending to be a deputy with the department.

The caller says there’s a warrant out for you and he can make it go away if you pay.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies should never take cash from you.
