Franklin County Schools will delay school dismissals on August 21

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Franklin County School officials say they will delay school dismissals by 15 to 20 minutes on Monday, August 21 to allow students to view and experience the predicted eclipse.

They say several school parent-teacher organizations and the district are purchasing special glasses and/or viewing devices to ensure that all students have the opportunity to participate in what is essentially a once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon.

Provision also is being made for parents and guardians who plan to take students out of school for the event and for those who prefer that their children remain inside during the eclipse, according to officials.
