Franklin County Fair reopens after storm
Monday’s high winds make it unsafe for the rides and nearly everything at the carnival had to be collapsed down so they wouldn’t fall.
The fair president says it hurts to lose a night at the fair but he says at least it was on Monday, which is normally the slowest night.
Crews spent much of Tuesday setting up the fair for the second time and keeping an eye on the radar. With only rain expected, the fair will be open Tuesday night.
“It can be a very disheartening thing but it’s happened before and it’s just something you deal with,” said Richard Mitchell, Franklin County Fair and Horse Show President. “Safety is our first issue here so better safe than sorry.”
The Bluegrass Fair in Lexington was also cancelled Monday night. It planned to be open Tuesday but Emergency Management reminds attendees to keep an eye on the weather as it could quickly change.
