Franklin Co. sinkhole repair continues

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says the closure of KY 2259 (Shelby Street) in downtown Frankfort will last longer than originally anticipated. A portion of the pavement at the intersection with 4th Street collapsed on Wednesday due to a large hole that formed in the ground underneath the roadway.

Crews closed the roadway to traffic on Wednesday afternoon, and had planned to fill the hole with concrete, but discovered a damaged storm sewer line. The City of Frankfort and the Frankfort Plant Board are making repairs to the line in an effort to reopen the roadway as soon as possible.  No word on when the repairs will be complete.
