FPD: Couple charged with reporting robbery that never happened

FLORENCE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Florence couple has been charged with reporting a robbery that police say never happened.

Investigators say on March 29, 2017, officers responded to a hospital emergency room where 19-year old Amalia Sanchez Peregrino, of Florence, was being treated for injuries she claimed were the result of a robbery.

Police say Peregrino and her husband, 20-year old Joshua Robison, of Florence, told them that Peregrino was walking alone in a Walmart parking lot when she was knocked unconscious by a man who took her money and phones.

Investigators say the couple later recanted their statements and admitted the robbery never happened.

Police say they’re still trying to determine the cause of Peregrino’s injuries, but in the meantime, the husband and wife have been charged with Falsely Reporting an Incident.
