Not guilty plea entered for Cook Out shooting suspect

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A judge has entered a not guilty plea for the fourth suspect arrested in connection to the shooting at the Cook Out restaurant on South Broadway that killed Trinity Gay.

The judge declined to lower Lamonte Williams’ bond, saying Williams was a danger to others.  His bond remains at $5,000 dollars.

Williams, charged with wanton endangerment in the shooting, will be represented by a public defender.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for October 25 at 8:30 a.m.

A fourth suspect charged in connection to a shooting at the Cook Out restaurant on South Broadway that killed Trinity Gay is scheduled for arraignment Thursday afternoon.

Police in Lexington say that 20-year-old Lamonte A. Williams has been charged with wanton endangerment.

Three other men, Dvonta Middlebrooks, along with father and son Chazerae and D’Markeo Taylor, have been charged in the case.

Officers say, at about 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, the 4 men were involved in a gunfire exchange between two vehicles in the parking lot of the restaurant.  One of the shots hit 15-year-old Trinity Gay, who later died of her injuries.

Chazerae and D’Markeo Taylor were released from jail Wednesday after posting bond.  Middlebrooks remains in the Fayette County Detention Center.

Detectives say the investigation into the shooting remains active, as evidence and testimonies continue to be collected.
