Four inmates in Fayette County taken to the hospital

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Four inmates at the Fayette County Detention Center were taken to the hospital Saturday night after 8:15 p.m..

City spokeswoman Susan Straub says she couldn’t say why the women had to go to the hospital because of health privacy rules. Lexington scanner traffic about the call suggested the inmates could have been overdosing.

According to Straub, officers nearby noticed the women were sick. The women were in a similar area, but they weren’t in the same cell.

Straub says the fire department found no hazardous substances inside the jail.

The jailer will investigate per protocol.
