Former UK basketball player dies at 93

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- The UK basketball family has lost one of the all-time greats. Dale Barnstable has died.

He was a World War II veteran and a key member of the 1948 and ’49 NCAA title teams.

He starred for four seasons for Adolph Rupp.

He was selected in the seventh round of the 1950 NBA draft by the Boston Celtics.

After his playing days were over he became a high school coach.

Dale Barnstable was 93 years old.

There will be a visitation at Maxwell Presbyterian Church in Lexington on Sunday at 2 p.m. with a short service to follow.

The public is invited.
