Former teacher’s aide charged with raping student

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- A former Fayette County Schools employee has been charged with raping a student.

27-year-old Lindsey Jarvis has been charged with two counts of third degree rape after police say she had a sexual relationship with a teenager under the age of 16.

Lindsey Jarvis, a former teacher’s aid at Veterans Park Elementary School, is pleading not guilty to having sex with her former student.

According to police, Jarvis was arrested on Friday after police uncovered evidence on her phone showing she was in a relationship with a teenage boy.

Jarvis also faces charges of rape, sodomy and unlawful transaction with a minor in Woodford County.

Versailles police are leading the investigation and say all the charges are related to the same victim.

“It’s possible that the unlawful transactions happened to two separate counties,” said Det. Steve Sparkman with the Versailles Police Department.

Before working for Fayette County Schools, Jarvis was an employee at Woodford County Middle School.

Police are not releasing what school the victim went to.

Jarvis is due back in Fayette County court in July and Woodford County court in August.

Jarvis is currently out on bail but a judge has ordered she have no contact with the teenage victim.
