Former School Building Lost In Fire

Robertson County residents said a community icon was lost in a fire late Wednesday night.

Multiple fire departments responded when the old Deming High School caught fire around 10:30 p.m.

Superintendent Chuck Brown said the school, originally built more than 80 years ago, was abandoned when the county built a new school this year.

The building was going to be torn down to make room for a community park.

With no electricity or gas currently running to the building, officials with the Robertson County Fire Department call the fire suspicious.

They said an arson investigator will be on the scene Thursday morning.
