Former Marine appointed new commander of KSP Dry Ridge Post

DRY RIDGE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Captain Scott Felder, a 16-year veteran of the Kentucky State Police, has been named as the new commander of Post 6, Dry Ridge.

Capt. Felder started his career with the KSP in 2005 and served at Post 7, Richmond as a Trooper until 2012. He is a native of Georgia, came to Winchester after his enlistment in the Marine Corps and worked as a firefighter and an EMT. He is married with three children.

In 2012, he was promoted to sergeant and served at Post 12, Frankfort.

In 2015, Felder was promoted to lieutenant and was assigned to Post 14, Ashland, Post 11, London and Post 7, Richmond.

He was promoted to captain in 2018 and worked on the COVID-19 response team in 2020. Later that year, Felder was transferred to Post 11, London as the commander before his latest assignment.

He has earned several awards including seat belt occupant safety, two Commissioners Commendations and the Lifesaving Medal.
