Former constable indicted after prostitution ring accusations

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) –  A former Kentucky constable has been indicted on accusations of running a prostitution ring.

67-year-old Thomas Banta was indicted Monday on charges of promoting prostitution, kidnapping a minor, and three counts of impersonating a police officer.

Banta served as a Franklin Co. constable from 2011 to 2014.

Police say Banta turned himself in Tuesday to the Franklin Co. Regional Jail.

He was scheduled to be arraigned in circuit court Friday morning.
