Former Congressional candidate, veteran Amy McGrath launching nonprofit for female veterans

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Amy McGrath is taking her experience as a veteran and as a former Congressional candidate and turning it into opportunities for other females who have served our country.

McGrath is launching Honor Bound, a nonprofit organization meant to inspire women who have worked in the service and run for elected office. She wants to help change the statistic that only nine female veterans have ever served in Congress.

The organization wants to help address the under-representation of women in Congress and that the lowest amount of veterans are serving in Congress since World War II.

“I want Honor Bound to help do that for others — provide the inspiration, the encouragement, the guidance, and the resources to take their service to the next level and run for office,” said McGrath. “And I’m not just talking about women vets — Honor Bound is for any woman who has served our country, including in places like the CIA, FBI, or through AmeriCorps.”

McGrath also recently published a new book, also titled Honor Bound.
