UPDATE: Berea mourns death of former professor

UPDATE, 9:30 A.M. MONDAY, AUG. 17, 2020

BEREA, Ky. (WTVQ) – Berea College issued a statement Monday morning on the death of former professor Stephen Pulsford, who was found dead Saturday afternoon.

The college said:

“Berea College regrets to announce that Dr. Stephen Pulsford, associate professor of English, died suddenly this past weekend. Dr. Pulsford had been a member of the faculty since 1995.  He was a former chair of the Department of English and specialized in Victorian literature.  His loss will be deeply felt by his family and close friends, and we ask that you keep them in mind in their grief.  This news was shared with the faculty and staff of the College on Saturday.”

BEREA, Ky. (WTVQ)- A former Berea College professor, accused of distributing child pornography, is dead.

The Madison County coroner says 61-year-old Stephen Pulsford was found dead on his Berea property around 1 p.m. Saturday.

Pulsford was one of three men arrested earlier this month as part of an undercover internet crimes against children investigation.

Pulsford was an English professor at Berea College.

The coroner says he doesn’t have a cause of death for Pulsford yet.

He said he is doing some toxicology tests, but not an autopsy.

He should get the results of the toxicology tests in a few weeks.
