Flower shops ready for Mother’s Day

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Mother’s Day is finally here and that means it’s a busy time for some shops as people order gifts. Especially flower shops.

Imperial Flowers had hundreds of orders for Mother’s Day this year.

They began delivering them a couple of days ahead of time.

Friday was their longest day of getting orders ready, staying until after 10 p.m.

“We’ve had hundreds of orders,” said florist Bryan. “I think 350 plus walk-ins and overflow, it’s tough. We’re really busy from Monday where we’ve had to book, so we had to push it to the next week. Yeah we’ve been really busy.”

Bryan wants to remind people that when ordering flower arrangements for special occasions, like Mother’s Day, to shop local.

Mother’s Day is the second biggest holiday for flower shops, just after valentine’s day.
